A free consultation will give you the size, elements to be included in your painting, deadline and price. I will answer your questions, discuss your photos and ideas and, if needed, offer a second consultation meeting to discuss additional photos. If further consulting is needed, additional consults will be set up for a fee.

If you have an idea for a painting but do not have all the photo references, provide a very rough, simple outline drawing of your idea. Finding great reference photos is time consuming. You can provide further photos at a later time or, for an additional fee, Paintings By Julie Stevens, LLC, can search for the image(s) to use in your painting and create a mockup collage, or meet locally for a photo shoot.

Once the reference is final, an agreement in the form of an invoice will be emailed to you, listing all the elements we discussed, so each side has clear expectations, before I start on your painting.

A 50% deposit is required before I begin your painting. This confirms you have read and agree with both the invoice and the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement.

A proof of the painting will be emailed to you. A painting has some degree of interpretation by the artist and I am willing to work with you to allow for up to two rounds of final adjustments. If, after two rounds, you remain unsatisfied, additional charges will apply for further alterations.

A UPS Tracking Number will be provided when the painting is dry enough to mail and final payment has been received.

Contact me with questions and if you have an image you are interested in using, attach that as well.

  • Reference photo tips:
    • Stand closer to your subject instead of zooming in to take a photo. This increases your image resolution and shows more detailed shapes and colors, two things that impact your painting!
    • The eye is going to be the focal point. Strengthen that by keeping it in the lightest area. Too much or too little light can wash out the color variation and flatten the overall image.
    • Not able to take a good photo? Getting an animal to sit still can be difficult. Capture a few seconds on a video and send me that instead!
